Department of Periodontics

Periodontics is that specialty of dentistry which encompasses the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the supporting structures of the teeth and dental implants. This department is mainly concerned with prevention, treatment, maintenance of health, function and aesthetics of periodontal tissues [Gums]. This specialty enhances the look of the face by bringing a bright confident smile with pink healthy gums and healthy bone.

The Department has both UG and PG sections with well equipped dental chairs, latest surgical equipments and teaching aids. A good number of patients seek surgical therapy in the department. Highly skilled faculty provides training to UG and PG in academics and clinical modalities such as scaling, root planning. curettage and surgeries like periodontal flap surgeries, gingevectomy, operculectomy, frenectomy, abscess drainage, corticotomy, root resection, hemisection and bicuspidisation. Regenerative procedures include bone grafts, guided tissue regeneration, bone regeneration with PRF, PRP, I-PRF, A-PRF, and Perio-plastic surgeries like depigmentation, crown lengthening ,root coverage by soft tissues grafts are performed in the department. This department encourages research activities, and conducts surveys at all levels. Advanced surgical modalities like LASERS, electrocautery and implants are provided in the department. “Beautiful smile with healthy gums and healthy bone” is the motto of this department.
