Department of Orthodontics
The Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics deals with the diagnosis and management of facial, skeletal, and dental deformities. Aims to create beautiful smiles for life in children as well as adult patients.
The postgraduate program in this specialty was established in 1997. The department thrives towards excellence in teaching, patient care, and in the field of research. The post-graduate students gain experience in treating cases using Removable appliances such as Habit breaking, and Functional appliances. Fixed appliances such as Tip edge, Preadjusted Edgewise and self-ligating. Recent advances such as Invisible orthodontics, Aligners and Temporary anchorage devices. Interdisciplinary orthodontics comprising of Orthognathic, Cleft lip and palate, Periodontally compromised patients, Sleep apnoea, Temporomandibular dysfunction.
Facilities in the department include separate clinical units for undergraduate and postgraduate students. The post-graduate clinic is well-equipped with a workstation for each student with all the necessary instruments allotted to them. A laboratory comprising of soldering unit, Electro polisher, Biostar, etc. An in-house library for reference, a museum for illustration of appliances and techniques. Separate rooms are provided for photography, record maintenance, seminar presentations, and for post-graduates.
