Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
The department being one of the surgical specialties', provides excellent surgical service and optimum care to correct a wide spectrum of injuries, diseases and defects of the maxillofacial region. Department is facilitated to provide a wide range of surgical treatments "all under one roof"- removal of teeth, complex exodontia,wisdom teeth removal, preprosthetic surgeries, and placement of implants are a part of minor oral surgical procedures performed on a routine out patient basis. The department has been instrumental in effective management of cleft lip, cleft palate patients and bringing back smile on their faces. Surgical planning and management of complex maxillofacial trauma, benign and malignant tumors, oral cancer, dentofacial and skeletal deformities, temporomandibular disorders, salivary gland disorders are major surgeries performed in the department. Department is well- equipped with state- of- the - art technologies for performing deft and precise surgeries. Department also facilitates to effectively manage biohazard patients with separate septic clinic.The faculty of the department are well informed, competent to train the undergraduate and postgraduate students to gain profound professional knowledge and acquire good clinical skills to serve the patients and provide comprehensive oral care.
UG Curriculum:
By the end of the course, the student will have:
- Developed the skills to record case history.
- Diagnosis of various injuries, disease of the head and neck outline of the treatment plan.
- Administration of local anesthesia and pain management.
- Training in Exodontia.
- An overview of maxillofacial trauma cases.
- Observe minor surgical procedures
- Assist minor oral surgical procedures
PG Curriculum:
By the end of the course, the student will have:
- Through knowledge on case history recording, diagnosis, treatment planning of head and neck pathologies, maxillofacial trauma.
- Observation and assistance of major maxillofacial surgeries under general anesthesia.
- Rigorous training in exodontia and complex exodontia.
- Case preparation for major surgeries- maxillofacial trauma, orthognathic surgeries, cleft lip and palate, oral cancer.
- Management of emergencies in casualty.
- Observation and assistance for microvascular reconstructive surgeries.
- Performing fracture cases in independently under guidance.
